Join me in supporting the Lap of Anglia 2024 cycling event, as we raise funds for the East Anglian Air Ambulance (EAAA).
I am riding in memory of Luke Hobson. In March 2019 Luke aged 14 was at hockey practise when he was hit on the head by a hockey stick. Luke was airlifted to hospital by EAAA but tragically his injuries were "unsurvivable". Luke attended the same school, the Perse in Cambridge, as my children Alex and Lola, and was in the year below Alex. Luke’s father Peter coached my rowing crew in Cambridge in the 1980’s, and has since organised and coxed 1980’s alumni crew in various rowing events on the Cam, and I very much enjoyed rowing in these events and getting to know him. Peter told me of the amazing support he and the family received from EAAA after Luke’s untimely passing.
The EAAA is a charity that provides life-saving critical care 24 hours-a-day, 365 days-a-year by air and road. Their specialist doctors, critical care paramedics and pilots bring advanced skills, equipment and medicine directly to those in need, in the fastest time possible. From road traffic collisions to cardiac arrests to medical emergencies, they bring hope to the most seriously ill and injured people in East Anglia. As a participant in Lap of Anglia 2024, I am committed to raising £750 for this incredible organization.
The event takes place on August 21st, 2024 and I am excited to be a part of it. Cycling through the beautiful countryside of East Anglia with like-minded individuals who share my passion for supporting this cause is an experience I will never forget. But more importantly, every pound we raise will help EAAA continue their life-saving work.
Please join me in supporting this cause by making a donation towards my fundraising goal. Together we can make a difference and save lives.
